About Axova

Axova is a unified commerce platform built for Ethiopian merchants. It brings online storefronts, a marketplace, point of sale, delivery and AI-powered tools together in a single system. As Axova enters its launch phase, we are expanding our engineering team with talented professionals ready to build technology at national scale.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and deploy new features and modules across Axova's web platforms, mobile applications and backend services

- Architect and build scalable, secure systems that support the platform's continued growth

- Translate product requirements into clean, well-tested, production-ready code

- Enhance existing features and contribute to the continuous evolution of the product

- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, optimise performance and ensure platform reliability

- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership within an agile, two-week sprint cycle

- Participate in code reviews and uphold high standards of code quality, documentation and engineering practice

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on full-stack development experience, with a proven record of shipping production systems

- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js and Node.js

- Experience with React Native, Expo or other mobile frameworks, including app store deployment, is a strong advantage

- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce or similar (storefronts, catalogues, checkout, orders, inventory)

- Experience integrating payment gateways, third-party APIs and webhooks (e.g. Chapa, Telebirr)

- Solid understanding of RESTful API design, relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and data modelling

- Knowledge of system design principles: scalability, caching, queues and microservices

- Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and CI/CD pipelines

- Familiarity with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage

- Understanding of application security, authentication and data protection best practices

- Proficiency in agentic, AI-powered development workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar)

- Experience with AI/LLM integrations is a plus

- Keeps up with current technologies, frameworks and industry best practices

- A strong eye for frontend design and UI/UX quality

- Excellent communication skills in English; Amharic is an advantage
