Horizontal Baler Operator

Location: Harar and Diredawa

Job Summary:

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating the horizontal baling machine to compact and bale RDF materials into properly sized and secured bales for storage, handling, and transportation. The operator is also responsible for routine equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the horizontal baling machine according to operating and safety procedures.
• Feed the appropriate material into the baler and ensure a consistent feeding rate.
• Monitor the baling cycle, hydraulic system, conveyor/feed system, and bale formation.
• Ensure bales are properly compressed, tied/secured, and meet the required size and quality standards.
• Monitor hydraulic pressure, oil level, temperature, and other operating parameters and conduct daily pre-start inspections
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, tightening, and other minor preventive maintenance within the operator's competency.
• Maintain proper housekeeping around the baler and bale storage area.
• Stack and organize finished bales safely as directed.
• Record production quantities, bale output, downtime, and equipment issues as required.
• Follow all PPE, lockout/isolation, occupational health and safety, and environmental requirements.
• Immediately report equipment faults, unsafe conditions, or accidents to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Have COC certification
• Ability to read and prepare drawings
• Hands on experience in plastic recycling machineries maintenance
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
• Good time-management skills
• Electrical knowledge is a plus

Qualification:

• TVET/Diploma or above in General Mechanics, Fabrication or related field of study or
• BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

• 3+years experience in the manufacturing industry as mechanics
• Experience in plastic manufacturing is preferred.
