Import Technical Manager

Job Purpose

The Import Technical Manager will plan, coordinate, and manage the end-to-end importation of beauty care and cosmetic products, ensuring timely procurement, regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, cost efficiency, and smooth customs clearance. The position will serve as the technical and operational link between international suppliers, freight forwarders, customs clearing agents, banks, insurance companies, and Ethiopian regulatory and trade authorities.

The manager will ensure that imported beauty care products meet applicable Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA)

and other relevant national and international standards before shipment, clearance, distribution, or market release, as applicable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Import planning and international trade management.
• Regulatory compliance and product registration.
• Customs clearance and government liaison.
• Banking, foreign exchange, insurance, and payments.
• Shipping, logistics, and warehouse coordination.
• Quality assurance and technical documentation.
• Reporting, cost control, and process improvement.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing, International Trade, Business Management, Procurement and Supply Management, or a related field.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in import-export operations, international trade, logistics, or supply chain management.

Additional Skills

• Practical experience coordinating international suppliers, shipping, import documentation, and customs clearance.
• Good understanding of regulatory and commercial procedures involving EFDA, customs, trade offices, banks, insurance companies, and electronic trade systems.
• Ability to review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, CoAs, product specifications, and regulatory documents.
• Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and digital documentation systems.
• Strong written and spoken English. Knowledge of Amharic is an advantage.
