Junior Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our leading import and export finance team. In this role, you will perform general accounting functions, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial documentation.

Key Responsibilities
1. General Ledger and Journal Entry Management
Record daily financial transactions, compile accurate journal entries, and maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with company policies and relevant standards.

2. Accounts Payable and Receivable Processing
Process vendor invoices, prepare payment vouchers, issue client billings, monitor receivable balances, and track outstanding payments for both local and foreign accounts.

3. Account and Bank Reconciliations
Perform routine bank reconciliations, inventory checks, and vendor/customer ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

4. Costing and Shipment Tracking
Assist in recording and allocating transaction costs such as freight, duty, logistics, and handling fees to ensure proper inventory and cost of goods accounting.

5. Tax Compliance and Statutory Filings
Assist in calculating, preparing, and filing monthly tax obligations (e.g., VAT, Withholding Tax, and Payroll Taxes) and maintaining supporting tax and shipping documentation.

6. Document Management and Record Keeping
Maintain an organized, secure physical and digital filing system for financial records, invoices, bank advice, customs declarations, and audit vouchers.

7. Month End Support and Audit Preparation
Support senior accountants during month end closing, financial reporting routines, and gathering documentation for internal and external audits.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education: First degree from a recognized University or College in Accounting or Accounting & Finance.
Experience: 0 – 2 Years of experience

Key Skills & Competencies
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping, and general financial concepts.
Proficiency in MS Office applications
Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks) is an advantage.
High attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
High level of integrity, professional ethics, and confidentiality.
