Maintenance Manager

Location: Harar/Addis Ababa

Job Summary: Responsible for the maintenance of all production equipment, machinery and maintenance personnel to ensure the smooth operation of plastic recycling plants. Working closely with the production department and maintenance team for planning, setting the targets and making sure the availability of production machinery to the standard level.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage installation and commissioning of machineries and auxiliary equipment based of industry norms and standards
• Work with vendors and suppliers for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and new equipment installation when applicable
• Facilitate and oversee the Engineering/Maintenance functions of machinery and plant;
• Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation, monitoring expenses and controlling the budget for maintenance.
• Ensures the minimum stock of the critical spares parts is always available to minimize the down times caused by lack of spares.
• Lead, train and supervise electrical and mechanical technicians, manage daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure adequate coverage while meeting budgetary goals
• Investigate equipment failures and conduct the root cause analysis for the down times and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
• Contribute to the implementation of Quality Standards and Continuous Improvement processes.
• Develop technical staff for future opportunities by providing constructive feedback and writing and conducting performance reviews.
• Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.

• Proven experience working in plastic recycling, extrusion and injection molding machineries
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, installations, maintenance and repairs
• Proven record of identifying innovative technical solutions
• Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing softwares
• Very good leadership skills
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills

Qualification

• BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related discipline

Experience

• 6 + years experience manufacturing industry, out of which more than 2 years experience in plastic manufacturing
