The Operations Manager will oversee and optimize all day-to-day operations of the company’s delivery and e-commerce platforms in Addis Ababa. The role requires strong experience in last-mile delivery, warehouse/fulfillment operations, order management, and e-commerce platform coordination to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery & Logistics Operations
Plan, manage, and continuously improve last-mile delivery operations across Addis Ababa.
Oversee rider/driver fleet management, route optimization, and on-time delivery performance.
Monitor and improve key delivery KPIs (on-time delivery rate, delivery success rate, average delivery time, cost per delivery).
Coordinate with third-party logistics partners when needed and manage in-house delivery teams.
Ensure proper handling of packages, returns, and failed deliveries.
2. E-Commerce & Order Fulfillment
Manage end-to-end order processing from placement to delivery.
Oversee warehouse/fulfillment center operations including inventory receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment for the e-commerce platform.
Coordinate with customer support, merchandising, and marketing teams to resolve order issues quickly.
Monitor platform performance related to order volume, peak periods, and system reliability.
3. Process Improvement & Efficiency
Design, implement, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for delivery and fulfillment.
Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve speed/quality.
Implement technology solutions (route optimization tools, warehouse management systems, delivery tracking apps) where beneficial.
Lead process standardization across delivery hubs and the main fulfillment center.
4. Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, train, and motivate operations teams (dispatchers, warehouse staff, riders/drivers, supervisors).
Set clear performance targets and conduct regular performance reviews.
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Manage staffing levels, shift planning, and recruitment needs for operations roles.
5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track and report daily/weekly/monthly operational KPIs to senior management.
Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare operational budgets and control costs within approved limits.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and relevant local regulations.
6. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with Customer Experience, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and IT teams.
Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and logistics partners.
Support business growth initiatives related to expanding delivery coverage or increasing order capacity in Addis Ababa.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s is a plus).
Minimum 4–6 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 2–3 years in delivery/logistics and/or e-commerce platforms.
Proven experience managing last-mile delivery operations in Addis Ababa or similar urban markets is highly preferred.
Hands-on experience with e-commerce order fulfillment, warehouse operations, and delivery fleet management.
