Job Summary

The senior accountant manages day-to-day accounting at the Lemi operation, prepares reliable financial statements, leads reconciliations and audits, and supervises accounting staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure compliance with IFRS, Ethiopian tax law, and company policy.

• Supervise, review, and mentor accountants and junior accounting staff.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

• Review and approve journal entries and financial transactions recorded in Odoo ERP.

• Perform complex reconciliations (bank, intercompany, receivables, payables, fixed assets) and resolve discrepancies.

• Prepare VAT, withholding, income tax, and other statutory declarations and ensure timely payment.

• Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, and follow up on audit findings.

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial planning, including trip and fleet cost analysis.

• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

• Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Job Requirements

• BA/BSc in Accounting and Finance or Accounting; an MSc/MBA in Accounting or Finance is an advantage.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, of which at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory accounting position.

• Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) is an advantage.

• Experience in a transport, logistics, import-export or multi-branch company is preferred.
