Senior Associate, Public Transport

ITDP Africa is seeking a Senior Associate, Public Transport to join our Ethiopia team and support the planning, design, and implementation of high-quality public transport systems. Based in Addis Ababa, the role will contribute to the development of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), mass transit systems, and other sustainable mobility initiatives, working closely with governments, development partners, and local stakeholders to improve urban mobility across Ethiopia and the region.

The Senior Associate will prepare technical studies, service plans, infrastructure designs, and transport models, while supporting business planning, financial analysis, and public transport reform. The role also includes fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, technical reviews, capacity building, and contributing to project development and fundraising efforts that advance sustainable and inclusive transport solutions.

We are looking for a transport planning or engineering professional with at least five years of relevant experience in public transport planning, BRT or mass transit project development, and strong technical skills in transport modelling, GIS, and infrastructure planning. The position is full-time and based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
