Job Summary

Cambridge Academy Ethiopia is seeking qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic Swimming Teachers/Instructors to join the Physical Education Department. Successful candidates will deliver safe, engaging, and progressive swimming lessons that develop students’ swimming proficiency, water confidence, physical fitness, and water safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Swimming Teaching & Learning

• Deliver safe, engaging, and progressive swimming lessons to students across a range of ages and abilities.
• Apply effective teaching pedagogy, including progressive lesson planning, modelling, differentiation, adaptive teaching, and assessment.
• Develop students’ swimming proficiency and monitor their progress throughout the learning process.
• Use appropriate teaching methods to build students’ water confidence, physical fitness, and swimming skills.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to child safeguarding and student wellbeing.
• Ensure safe and effective pool supervision during swimming lessons.
• Apply sound knowledge of water safety, risk management, and emergency procedures.
• Hold current First Aid and CPR certification, or be willing to obtain these qualifications.

About You

• Recognised swimming instruction, aquatics, or Physical Education qualification.
• Valid swimming instructor certification.
• Proven experience teaching students across a range of ages and abilities.
• Strong subject knowledge and effective swimming teaching skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Patient, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
• Ability to inspire confidence and encourage student participation.
• Strong commitment to student safety, wellbeing, and progress.
• Ability to work collaboratively to support every learner’s development.
• Experience working in an international school is an advantage.
• Additional lifeguarding or competitive swimming qualifications are an advantage.

Required Certifications

• Valid swimming instructor certification.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these qualifications.
