Reports to
General Manager / Operations Director / Managing Director Supervises: Forex Customer Service Officers, Sales and Marketing Officers, Customer Relationship Officers, Accountants, and Support Staff Job Purpose To plan, organize, direct, and control all Forex Bureau operations in compliance with National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) directives, company policies, and applicable laws. The position is responsible for business growth, customer service excellence, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and risk management of the Forex Bureau.

Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Plan, organize, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Forex Bureau.
- Ensure efficient delivery of foreign currency buying and selling services.
- Monitor daily foreign exchange transactions and operational performance.
- Ensure adequate availability and proper management of foreign currency and local currency cash balances.
- Establish and maintain effective operational controls and procedures. Business Development and Marketing
- Develop and implement business growth strategies to increase market share and profitability.
- Identify new business opportunities and customer segments.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate customers, travelers, investors, embassies, hotels, travel agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends, exchange rate movements, and competitor activities.
- Lead sales and marketing initiatives to promote Forex Bureau services. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with National Bank of Ethiopia directives, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) requirements.
- Monitor suspicious transactions and ensure timely reporting to the appropriate authorities.
- Ensure proper customer identification and transaction documentation.
- Implement internal controls to minimize operational, financial, and compliance risks.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement corrective actions. Financial Management
- Review and approve daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports.
- Monitor revenue generation, operational expenses, and profitability.
- Ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of foreign exchange transactions.
- Participate in budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Safeguard company assets and cash resources. Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Ensure the provision of high-quality customer service.
- Handle major customer complaints and service issues.
- Develop customer retention and relationship management strategies.
- Monitor customer satisfaction levels and implement improvement initiatives. Staff Leadership and Administration
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of Forex Bureau employees.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development support.
- Ensure staff compliance with operational procedures and ethical standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, teamwork, and customer focus. Reporting
- Prepare and submit periodic operational, compliance, financial, and performance reports to management and NBE.
- Provide recommendations for service improvement, business expansion, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Management, or related fields.
Master's Degree is an added advantage.
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in banking, foreign exchange operations, financial institutions, or related sectors, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
