We are looking for an analytical and results-driven Merchandising and Inventory Planning Analyst to join our growing import, export, and retail business to lead merchandising, demand planning, inventory analysis, and replenishment strategies across both physical retail store and online channels.
Reporting relationship Managing Director.
Role purpose
Lead merchandising, demand planning, inventory analysis, and replenishment across the store and online channel.
Key responsibilities
Develop assortment and category plans within authorised product ranges, using customer demand, selling space, seasonality, margin, and business priorities.
Prepare the opening stock plan and rolling demand forecasts. Record assumptions and update them as store and online sales information becomes available.
Set proposed reorder points, minimum and maximum stock, safety stock, and replenishment quantities using demand, lead times, pack sizes, capacity, and budget.
Maintain visibility of saleable stock, committed orders, stock on order, expected arrivals, and unavailable or damaged stock across locations and channels.
Prepare purchase and replenishment recommendations with quantities, timing, cost, and rationale. Coordinate budget review with the CFO and approval through agreed limits.
Analyse sales, category margins with Finance, sell-through, weeks of cover, ageing, and stockout risks. Recommend actions for fast sellers and slow or excess stock.
Set display and merchandising priorities and coordinate approved promotions with Marketing and Ecommerce, confirming stock and price readiness.
Work with Ecommerce on assortment, product information, stock allocation, reservations, and availability to reduce overselling and conflicting stock commitments.
Working relationships and performance
Coordination
Report to the Managing Director. Work closely with Ecommerce, which reports directly to the Managing Director, and coordinates with the CFO and Logistics.
Decision authority
Recommend purchases, markdowns, allocations, and write-offs; approve only within written delegation. Do not override quality holds or approve self-prepared adjustments without the required separate authorization.
Suggested qualifications and experience
Suggested profile: at least three years in retail merchandising, inventory planning, or operations with strong analytical capability and experience coordinating or supervising teams. Relevant business or supply-chain training is helpful; equivalent experience is acceptable.
Skills and capabilities
Demand forecasting, replenishment, retail analysis, Excel pivot tables and lookups, POS and inventory systems, data validation, merchandising judgement, and clear people leadership.
Reporting and deliverables
Weekly sales and stock report; rolling demand and replenishment plan; merchandising calendar; stock-risk and exception tracker; monthly category review with financial input.
First 90 days
Validate product data and opening stock assumptions, agree channel allocation rules, establish stock and sales reporting, and review replenishment after the first weeks of trading.
