Senior welder officer

• Listing summary: The successful candidate should possess a TVET Diploma in Metal Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. The candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in metal manufacturing, production, or a related field. Strong technical, manufacturing, production, quality control, analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are also required.

1. Metal Joining & Welding Operations

• Execute truck welds, root passes, and multi‑pass welds on plate, pipe, and structural components.

• Control heat input to avoid distortion and ensure proper penetration and fusion.

1. Blueprint & Technical Interpretation

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, schematics, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).

• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and joint details before welding.

1. Material Preparation & Fit‑Up

• Clean, bevel, grind, and prepare metal surfaces for welding.

• Fit and align components, ensuring correct root gaps and joint geometry.

• Use clamps, jigs, cranes, and slings to position workpieces.

1. Equipment Setup & Maintenance

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding machines, torches, wire feeders, and gas systems.

• Troubleshoot equipment and ensure tools are in safe working order.

1. Quality Control & Inspection

• Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, and assist with NDT

• Ensure welds meet structural integrity and project specifications.

6. Safety Compliance

• Record welds, heat numbers, procedures used, and inspection results.

• Complete job packets and maintain traceability documentation.
