Job Description

As an Export Company, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to manage our day-to-day accounting operations, handle the financial side of import and export transactions, and support accurate, timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable and payable, including customer invoicing, collections follow-up, supplier payments and reconciliations

• Process and track import/export transactions, including Letters of Credit (LC), CAD, TT and bank permits

• Calculate landed cost of imported goods (purchase price, freight, insurance, customs duty, taxes, clearing and transport costs)

• Handle foreign currency transactions, exchange gains/losses and export proceeds in line with National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) directives

• Coordinate with banks, customs clearing agents, freight forwarders and suppliers on payments and documentation

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

• Perform bank, cash and general ledger reconciliations

• Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, withholding, payroll tax, pension) in line with Ministry of Revenues requirements

• Manage inventory valuation and stock reconciliation for imported and export goods

• Support budgeting, cost control, internal controls and external audits

Requirements

• BA/BSc degree in Accounting and Finance or a related field

• 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably in an import/export or trading company

• Working knowledge of LC procedures, customs documentation and import/export banking processes

• Solid knowledge of IFRS and Ethiopian tax regulations

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Peachtree)

• Strong attention to detail, integrity and ability to meet deadlines
